I am writing this to kind of get the word out to all the people that appreciate male nudity, whether it be homosexual in nature or not! I have seen a good many amazing drawing, painting, and photographic genius' pushed to the brink of quitting their amazing talent just because they are taking, painting, and drawing photos of nude men and not nude women. What is even more bothersome is that when these photos depict homosexual moments of romance or sexuality, it is marked as disgusting or a Terms of Service violation.

This is odd to most of the nude art community, as it does not happen when a photo of a nude female or a nude heterosexual act is depicted near as often. I am 100% sure that this is an online community of Artist's of all kinds. Why should nude male artist's be belittled and called "fags" or "degenerates" just because they find the male form to be their muse, instead of that of the female form?

This is not only biased and wrong, but, homophobic and unneeded. If you come upon photos of nude men (solo, group, or gay), then, most likely you were looking for them. They don't just pop up. I believe that I have found a solution to this issue. A quick way to solve this and stop it from happening...ignore that it exists and, just like a bee, it won't bother you anymore.

Lastly, shame on deviantART for choosing to take down nude male photos just because some people do not like them and find them offensive. Since when has the Artistic Community been about censorship? As I stated above, if they are on male nude art of any kind, they were usually searching for it, and if they are worried about their children seeing the nudity, then, maybe their child should not lie about their age to see it in the first place. If all the "offensive art" on this site where taken down, well, there would be nothing left.

I think the underlying issue is that men on this site have contributed to the attitude of site members who are sick and tired of seeing shitty dick images labeled as "art". The overwhelming number of male nude submissions on here are self-shot pics taken with a cell phone camera of some guy's hard or partially-hard dick. It's pretty rare to see an actual male nude who isn't taking his own picture and is using a decent camera, and isn't doing it in an exhibitionist manner for their own self-gratification, or under the mistaken impression that everyone is going to admire his cock despite the grainy iPhone pic with absolutely zero artistic merit.

I agree with most of what you say, but, the realize that everyone must start somewhere. Modelling for yourself is the only way, sometimes...and the grainy pictures could be because not all can afford the best in the beginning.

That's true, but I think most of us realize when it's just some guy getting off on posting his junk on the web under the guise of it being "art". Maybe if it wasn't such an epidemic on here people would be more apt to accept models and/or photographers trying to capture the male nude in an artistic manner, but I think for a lot of people the window of opportunity has expired a long time ago, and nobody has the patience to bother with all the idiots who just drop their drawers and post an iPhone pic of their manhood.

Well, you may see it with a pessimistic view, but, I feel the same way about the majority of female nude art. This site is overrun with unfortunate deviations that pass as art and art that is overly critiqued when is not meant to be so crude.

One just has to except that neither will get due credit until they clean up their poor attempts of pornography or bucks up on their skills with a camera.

Though, it seems like you have chosen to judge all male nude art with the same misguided criteria. Not all is the way you say. Everyone has to start somewhere. Plus, what is artistic to you is shit to others and vise versa.

Tell it, preacher.

This sort of stigma infuriates me to no end. I've lost count of the number of outright pornographic female pictures and photos I've seen that are allowed to remain up here just because it's wanking material for the heterosexual male population of this site. And yet artistic nudes of males or pictures of homosexual romance or sexuality are removed? Bullshit. Bullshit of the highest caliber.

It is something that I truly care about and I am sick of biased bullshit. I am glad that it has made you feel appreciated. :) Thank you for your kind words. My outspoken nature has always made me quite popular. Legend, though...that is a new one.

I have not read all of the comments here... but I came her via the fallus worship group or whatever it is.. while I was looking at photography groups to join.

This article reminds me of a documentary I saw perhaps more than 20 years ago on UK tv. It was about the taboo of male nudity and was tongue in cheek funny... but also deadly serious.

It was ok to see full female nudity on tv, but it was NOT ok to see the male penis! Heaven forbid.!

The documentary was hilarious because it went to great lengths to show how we could see the full male nude body, but his manly bits were always hidden in some way by his legs or the position or whatever or even with some props.

I am really sorry to see that the world has not moved on from this. It's like we are going backwards. In fact we really are going more than backwards.

Why can we see the full female body, but not the male?

it because men judge each other by the size of their dicks and it still is a male dominated world. ?

Why is it taboo to see the male naked body?

As a woman, this seriously annoys me.

I am looking for a stock photo that I can use in a photo manip. He does not actually have to be really naked, but just appear to be. ... a silhouette, backlit, walking towards the camera with something in each hand.

On DA there are bucket loads of female nudes... some artistic, some in your face (I don't really like them cos they are usually badly lit and the stuff of cheap magazines .. sorry to offend anyone who takes this kind of pic), but I would never complain about them.

There are some male nudes or half nudes but they are muscle men. Body builders! Stuff which could be used in an ad for a gym or something... but not in an artistic photo manipulation.

I might have to try and bribe a friend to model for me... but I suspect that will be one of the most difficult challenges I have ever encountered in my whole life.

For some reason men are afraid of their nudity, or they are afraid of being judged by others.

I am a girl (ha... older woman!!) with no brothers and grew up in Ireland, so am only guessing what the problem is. If anyone can enlighten me, please feel free.

And if anyone has a photo of a naked male silhouette that they wouldn't mind me using (it would be small)... please let me know! :)
